Plot

Felix Grandet lives with his wife and daughter Eugénie in a modest home in Saumur, France. Felix is a greedy and extremely stingy man, so he does not look kindly on the many suitors who come to ask for his daughter's hand, for he is afraid that the interest is none other than to appropriate the tremendous fortune he hides from everyone. When his nephew Charles Grandet, a Parisian dandy with no money and no parents, arrives at his house, it will create a revolution of the order and the laws Felix has established, especially in the face of his daughter, Eugénie.

Based on the novel of the same name by Honré de Balzac, Marc Dugain writes the screenplay and directs 'Eugénie Grandet', his second feature film. The film stars Joséphine Japy ('Fantasies'), Valérie Bonneton ('Little Lies Without Importance') and Olivier Gourmet ('Letters to Roxane'), who won the statuette for best actor at the Barcelona-Sant Jordi Film Festival, along with César Domboy and François Marthouret. They also share the screen with Nathalie Bécue, Bruno Raffaelli, Jean Chavalier, Philippe du Janerand, Pierre-Olivier Scotto, Anne-Marie Philipe, Alexandre Laval, Philippe Dusseau, Olivier Massart, Michel Bompoil, Didier Sauvegrain, Urbain Cancelier and Vanessa Fonte.
