Plot
Mohamed Rachid Hami ('The Melody', 2017) shares a family trauma with great intensity and elegance in 'For My Country', where he narrates the story of a policeman who dies during the initiation process at a French military school. During a military trial, a young Navy lawyer risks his career to discover the truth about a murder. This story allows us to discover the challenges that are imposed on the practice of law when the interests of people with power are confronted. The movie shows how life is often unfair when you are fighting for the truth.
During the initiation ritual at a prestigious Saint-Cyr Military School, a policeman named Aïssa loses his life at just 23 years of age. As the officer's death continues to tear his family apart, a controversy erupts over Aissa's funeral plans when the military refuses to take responsibility. Ismael, his rebellious older brother, tries to keep his family together as he fights to win justice for Aissa.
To do this, he will have to face an army that avoids recognizing its responsibilities. Ismaël will be forced to embark on a battle for the truth. The deep investigation into his younger brother's life brings back memories of their childhood in Argelia and their last moments together in Taipei.
