Home Sweet Hell

Mona Champagne writes everything down in her goals book: the house, the cars, the kids' private schools, even the nights she'll sleep with her husband. Directed by Anthony Burns, 'Home Sweet Hell' is a black comedy about a seemingly perfect suburban marriage, with Katherine Heigl as the housewife with a desperate need for control.

Her husband Don runs a furniture store and has long since given in to every one of her rules. When he hires Dusty, a young and attractive saleswoman, it doesn't take him long to start an affair with her. But the fling soon gets messy: Dusty tells him she's pregnant and wants money to keep quiet.

Out of options, Don confesses everything to Mona, who doesn't fly into a rage. Instead she decides to make the problem go away, with the same cool efficiency she uses to run the house, and from there the couple's plan to save their perfect life gets bloodier and bloodier.

Patrick Wilson, star of 'The Conjuring', plays Don, and Jordana Brewster is Dusty. Jim Belushi, Chi McBride, AJ Buckley, who's also a producer, and Kevin McKidd, Heigl's former costar on 'Grey's Anatomy', round out the cast. It was shot in New Orleans in 2013 under the working title 'North of Hell'.

It reached US cinemas in March 2015 and critics tore it apart: many called it misogynistic and unfunny, though a few had kind words for Heigl, who still picked up a Razzie nomination for Worst Actress. The 19 outlets collected on Movienco give it an average of 3.2 out of 10.
