In Times of Fading Light

The film based on the novel written by Eugene Ruge is set in the East Berlin in 1989. The story focuses on Wilhelm Powileit, an elderly man who turns 90 and has a party in his honor. This exiled german during the nazi days and who is afiliated to the Communist Party of the German Democratic Republic is honored with a party where different members of his family go, as well as his neighbours and some old colleagues. However, there's no such thing as peace and celebration because his son does not know how to tell him that his grandson Sascha has desert to go to the Western Germany. The movie is directed by Matti Geschnnoeck and starring Bruno Ganz, Alexander Fehling, Angela Winkler and Evgenia Dodina.
