Jeanne du Barry

Jeanne is a young girl from the lower middle class who feels a strong and intense desire to soak up culture and pleasure. The cunning young woman uses her knowledge and beauty to climb little by little in the social pyramid, so much so that she becomes the favorite of King Louis XV, who without knowing that she is a working-class girl, gives her what is necessary to Restore the will to live. 'Jeanne Du Barry' opened the 76th edition of the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. This historical drama is directed by Maïwenn. The French director and winner of the Jury Prize at Cannes with her first feature 'Polisse', directs and co-writes this film with Teddy Lussi-Modeste and Nicolas Livecchi.

As for the cast, Johnny Deep plays King Louis XV, while the young Jeanne is played by the director herself, whom we have seen form part of the cast in most of her previous works. Pierre Richard, from 'Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Kingdom', Benjamin Lavernhe, actor in 'Love at Second Sight', Noémie Lvosky, from 'Monsieur Chocolat', Melvin Poupaud, member of 'Thank God', Pascal Greggory, from 'A beautiful morning', and India Hair, complete the cast.
