La reina del convento

'La reina del convento' is an Spanish independent comedy film, written and directed by Carmen Perona in her directorial debut. The film features Mario Vaquerizo in his first performance as lead actor and premieres in Spanish cinemas on February 2, 2024, with distribution by Begin Again Movies.

The story revolves around Juanita (played by Mario Vaquerizo), whose life has been difficult after the death of her parents when she was a child. Raised by her evil stepmother, who controls her father's inheritance, Juanita feels alone and stuck as she sees her friends leading full lives. Determined to change her destiny, Juanita wishes to become a nun and moves to a convent. There, she discovers the nuns involved in a mysterious incident with a deceased priest, allowing her to stay.

Throughout the plot, she establishes a solid friendship with Sister Raimunda, Sister María, Sister Rosarito, Sister Rita and Sister Frasquita, played by Antonia San Juan, María Alfonsa Rosso, Aída Domenech, Gemma Cuervo and Isabel Ordaz respectively. At the convent, Juanita lives various adventures and discovers the true meaning of family.
