Plot
The story, based on the Madeleine St.John's bestseller, is set in the Australia of 1979, in full cultural awakening, breakdown of class structures and liberation of women. It is centered in Lisa, a young suburbian student who dreams with going to the University of Sydney and make a degree, something that her father don't seem to approve.
While she waits for the last exams' results, Lisa is chosen for a summer work in the Goode's department store in order to earn her first salary. There she will meet Fay, who is a little wary of inmigrants; Myra, who is seeking the attention of his husband again; and Magda, an Slovenian inmigrant who introduces Lisa to the rythym of the other European inmigrants.
