Synopsis

It sat on a shelf for nearly two years, and when it finally reached US cinemas on 22 August 2003 it did so without being screened for critics. By then Ashton Kutcher was a star thanks to 'That '70s Show', 'Just Married' and his much talked about romance with Demi Moore. 'My Boss's Daughter' is a farce from David Zucker, one of the men behind 'Airplane!' and 'The Naked Gun', written by David Dorfman, who also wrote 'Anger Management'.

Tom Stansfield (Kutcher) works as a researcher at a big Chicago publishing house, though what he really wants is a job in the creative department. He's had a crush on Lisa (Tara Reid), daughter of the company's fearsome boss Jack Taylor (Terence Stamp), for ages, so when she asks him over that night he thinks it's a date. What Lisa actually wants is someone to housesit the mansion while she goes to a party and her dad's away on business.

Jack leaves him a strict set of rules: don't touch anything, wear surgical booties in the house and look after O.J., his owl. The moment he's alone, people start knocking. First comes Red (Andy Richter), Jack's disowned son, who's in some kind of trouble; then Audrey (Molly Shannon), the secretary the boss has just fired for making undrinkable coffee. And plenty more follow.

Michael Madsen, Jeffrey Tambor, Dave Foley and Jon Abrahams round out the cast, and Kutcher himself is credited as co-producer. It cost $14 million and took $15.5 million in the US and $18.2 million worldwide. Critics tore it apart (it averages 28.2 out of 100 across sixteen reviews on the site), and it picked up three Razzie nominations: Kutcher for Worst Actor, also for 'Cheaper by the Dozen' and 'Just Married', Reid for Worst Supporting Actress, and the pair for Worst Screen Couple.
