The Flood

Marie Antoinette is one of the most remembered queens and French figures in the entire history of the Gallic country. Her swift ascent to the throne, her charismatic figure, and her tragic end make this historical character one that is unlikely to leave the collective imagination for a long time. It was in 1792 when the revolution of the people triumphed in Paris. Citizens and workers rose up against the established power after years and years of a system that had enslaved them senselessly. The King of France, Louis XVI, his wife Marie Antoinette, and their children were arrested and taken to the Tour du Temple prison, a terrifying castle located in that same city. When they entered, it was with the promise that they would enjoy a trial; in the meantime, they would have to live away from the luxury, privileges, light, and splendor that their lives had held until that moment. Now all the family members found themselves isolated and quite vulnerable for the first time in their lives. With this feature film, we explore what would be their last days, before an execution took place in front of their people that would mark the history of their country, the rest of Europe, and all of humanity.
