The Flood

'The Flood' is a British drama directed by Anthony Woodley with a screenplay by Helen Kingston. It premiered in the United Kingdom on June 21, 2019, with a limited release, and a year later in the United States with the same process.

The film stars Lena Headey, who plays Wendy, a cold immigration officer known for her objectivity when handling all cases, no matter how tough or complicated they may seem. Now Wendy is responsible for deciding on the case of Haile, a refugee from Eritrea who has recently entered the United Kingdom.

As Haile recalls his journey of over 5,000 kilometers through dangerous countries, Wendy must decide whether what he is saying is true or if he has hidden motives for seeking asylum in her country. As the investigation into the case progresses, what seemed like just another file becomes increasingly complicated, challenging her to confront the limits that her decisions may entail.

In addition to Headey, the cast includes Ivanno Jeremiah as Haile, with performances by Mandip Gill, Jack Gordon, Peter Singh, Arsher Ali, and Ian Glen. 'The Flood' has received mixed reviews, praising the actors' performances but highlighting the lack of cohesion in the film's script.
