The Juror

'The Juror' is a U.S. legal thriller directed by Brian Gibson. It is based on the book "The Juror" by George Dawes Green, with a screenplay adapted by Ted Tally. The film, produced by Columbia Pictures, premiered on February 2, 1996, in the United States and was panned by critics. Starring Alec Baldwin and Demi Moore, it earned Moore a Razzie award for Worst Actress of that year. Despite everything, it managed to recoup its budget at the box office.

Moore plays Annie Laird, a single mother living in New York with her teenage son. An aspiring sculptor, she makes a living as a data processor in an office. Laird is selected as a member of a jury to deliberate on the case of mafia boss Louie Boffano, accused of murdering an informant, his wife, and child.

Then Mark Cordell enters the scene, an employee of Boffano who comes to see Annie to "convince her" to exonerate his boss through threats to her and her son. The process becomes increasingly complicated as Mark falls in love with Annie while secretly planning to dispose of Boffano as well...

In addition to Baldwin and Moore, the cast of 'The Juror' includes James Gandolfini, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Heche, and Michael Rispoli, among others. Columbia acquired the rights to the book before it was published, paying up to 1.5 million dollars for them.
