Plot

'The Lobster' has been defined as a love story set in the near (and dystopian) future where single people, according to the rules of The city, are arrested and transferred to The hotel. There are bound to find a partner before 45 days. Failure to achieve this, these people become an animal of their choice and are released in The Woods. David (Colin Farrell), a desperate man, escapes from The hotel and into The woods. There he meets The loners, those who despite not sharing rules falls in love. 'The Lobster' is the first film that greek Yorgos Lanthimos conference in English with an international cast. He wrote the screenplay with longtime collaborator Efthimis Filippou. Filming took place entirely in Ireland.

Trivia The Lobster

The production worked almost entirely with natural light and without make-up. Lighting was only used for some night scenes. Mainly filmed in and around the Parknasilla Hotel in Sneem, County Kerry in Ireland. This is director Yorgos Lanthimos' first English-language feature length film.
