Plot

Directed by acclaimed director Na Hong-jin ('The Yellow Sea', 'The Chaser') and it was presented out of competition at the 69th edition of the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival. This thriller begins in a quiet village in South Korea, the life of this peaceful place is disturbed when a series of strange murders that appear supernatural events occur. This rural community is terrified, because the killings are wild, mysterious and victims seem randomly chosen. Given the incompetence of the police body, rumors and superstitions start gaining strength rapidly, people are desperate. Such is the desperation that the community chooses to find the murderer of a completely irrational way. Some villager decide to tell a shaman to discover the identity of the perpetrator. At the same time, the police officer Jong-gu, whose family is threatened directly, investigates though he does admit that crimes can be of supernatural origin.
