Plot

In 1973, it took place the first sailing race competition across the world, where each participant had to go around the globe sailing for nine months. Is then where this documentary is focused, rescuing a story of self improvement and inspiration. 'The Weekend Sailor' rescues the story of Mexican captain Ramón Carlin, who decided to participate in the sailing competition with his own ship without any experience in competition and a much lower level than the favourites to win the race, such as England. The British country spend large amounts of money in new ships and training for their tripulations, while Carlin only had one demand to his crew: If you don't believe we, if you don't believe Mexico, can win, then don't come aboard. Ramon sign up to the competition on his fifty years old. His crew included his wife, his son and some friends. No matter what he got the first place and a spot in the history of the sport and the competition. This documentary is directed by Bernardo Arsuaga.
