Ever since the first image of Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury surfaced, fans of the British band Queen have been eagerly awaiting the release of the biopic, 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. Despite that however, some fans remain unconvinced of how Malek will be able to pull of his role as Mercury. Regardless of how well equipped the hair and makeup team are, imitating the voice, expression and movements of one of most iconic rockstars, is not an easy task. That said, in a leaked video taken from the film set, we saw a committed Malek looking as though we was possessed by the singer.

Little more than a month later, director, Bryan Singer uploaded an image to his Instagram account, and accompanied it with the following caption: "Couldn't help myself and had to post this iPhone pic". We can't deny that every time we see the 'Mr. Robot' actor in his element, it feels as though we're watching a Queen concert in the 70s or 80s.

As expected, the majority of Singer's followers expressed their enthusiasm upon seeing the image, emphasising just how excited they are for the film's release too. There's still a long wait ahead however, because the film isn't set for US release until 25th December 2018.

Relive the past

'Bohemian Rhapsody' will tell the story of the British band from their beginning in 1970, right up until their last concert at Live Aid in 1985. All in all, the film will celebrate the 15 years of Rock music that Queen brought us. Alongside Malek, actors Ben Hardy, Joseph Mazzello and Gwilym Lee will portray the other band members. John Reid, the band manager, will be played by Aidan Gillen. Mike Myers, Lucy Boynton and Tom Hollander are also rumoured to be cast in the upcoming film.
