"I won't be able to repair the damage I've done, but someday will you be able to forgive me?" That sentence, uttered by the murderous Polo (Álvaro Rico), kicks off the official trailer for the third season of the Spanish teen drama sensation and international hit 'Elite'. In classic 'Elite' style, the drama of a murderer's return to a school attended by the children of the rich, famous and corrupt is contrasted with a flashy party scene as beloved characters gather round to stare him down as he approaches his once best friend, Guzmán (Miguel Bernardeau). "Never", hisses Guzmán into his former friend's ear - and just like that, we know 'Elite' is back.

The trailer doesn't even hit the two minute mark and yet is full of enough drama, deception and teases to leave the mind reeling. First of all, the return of Polo frames the trailer as both Guzmán and Samuel (Itzán Escamilla) seem determined to see Marina's killer get what he deserves. Meanwhile, the scandalous love stories that have many fans hooked all get their chance to shine on screen. Last season's unlikely but hit pairing Samuel and Carla (Ester Expósito) seem off to a rocky start as his declaration of love is met with a slap from her perfectly manicured hand - as many would likely respond after their boyfriend betrayed them and faked their own death, we're sure. Cayetana (Georgina Amoros) promises to be there for Polo whilst fan favourites Nadia (Mina El Hammani) and Guzmán debate their future as a couple. Fans can even catch a glimpse of the 'Elite' equivalent of the Lannister siblings Lu (Danna Paola) and Valerio (Jorge López) as their father seems to still be caught up in the drama of season 2 and, unsurprisingly, is unhappy with the incestuous twist that took place under his own roof.

The trailer offers a few more flashes that promise a medley of friendship, such as a surprising hug between former rivals in academia and love, Lu and Nadia, and bloodshed, as Guzmán crouches whilst drenched in the unmistakable scarlet hue of blood before reaching the trailer's climax and most shocking twist: as the tagline "'Til death do us part" blazes across the screen, the murderer, friend and student that is Polo falls to his bloody death.

The explosive trailer for the third season of 'Elite' has dropped

As if the shock of seeing Polo's immobilised face in an uncanny allusion to the discovery of Marina in a similar position back in season 1 wasn't enough, the trailer concludes with a nervous Lu confessing to the police officer, who by this point is probably wondering how on earth Las Encinas is still open, "I saw who murdered him". At the detective's prompt, Lu gazes around the room at her impassively faced cast members with the knowledge that Polo faced justice at the hands of somebody in that very room. Did Guzmán try to avenge his sister? Samuel his deceased girlfriend? Did Carla wish to push away her former boyfriend and ally only to end up pushing him off a balcony instead? Lu's terrified gaze gives away no answers.
