Way back in 2014, Sony announced they were cancelling their impending plans to expand the Spider-man universe by producing a film about 'Venom'. However, three years later, the film studio announced they were reviving the idea, and as of today we can confirm the expected release date for the project is early October next year.

Thanks to Tom Hardy, who'll play Eddie Brock in the film, we've been able to see what his character will look like. Hardy accompanied his post with a simple caption: "Day 1: #Venom", letting us know that they've already started work on the upcoming film.

Whilst the image doesn't reveal much, we can see Hardy dressed in green cargo trousers, a black T-shirt, and a sleeve of tattoos. At a glance then, it seems as though they've had a good first day of filming. Hardy will be joined by Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate, Reid Scott and Scott Haze, who together, will make up the rest of the cast.

The technical team

'Venom', will tell the story of the principal villain from 'Spider-man 3', and in order to portray the character in all of his glory, the film has a huge technical team. Ruben Fleischer ('Zombieland'), directed the film, based on the screenplay written by Scott Rosenberg ('High Fidelity' and 'Beautiful Girls') and Jeff Pinkner ('The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Rise of Electro'). Avi Arad ('Iron Man', 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine'), Matthew Tolmach ('Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle') and Amy Pascal ('The Girl in the Spider Web') produced the upcoming flick.
