About the Night at the Museum saga
'Night at the Museum' adapted Milan Trenc's children's book about a museum whose exhibits come to life after dark. Shawn Levy directed all three films and Ben Stiller starred in each as Larry Daley, a night guard at New York's American Museum of Natural History.
In 'Night at the Museum' (2006), Larry discovers that an Egyptian tablet wakes a Tyrannosaurus skeleton, miniature cowboys and Romans and President Theodore Roosevelt, played by Robin Williams, every night. It was a hit, and 'Night at the Museum 2' (2009) followed, set at Washington's Smithsonian Institution, with Amy Adams as the aviator Amelia Earhart.
'Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb' (2014) took the characters to the British Museum in London and was one of Robin Williams' last films, released months after his death. An animated follow-up arrived on Disney+ in 2022.
