About the Dragon Ball saga
'Dragon Ball' is the manga Japan's Akira Toriyama published from 1984 to 1995, the story of Son Goku, a boy with a monkey's tail who grows into the most powerful warrior in the universe while hunting for the seven magic balls that grant wishes. It is one of the best-selling manga ever, and its anime series became a phenomenon around the world.
While the series were on air, Toei released one or two films a year in Japan: four 'Dragon Ball' films, starting with 'The Legend of Shenron' (1986), and thirteen 'Dragon Ball Z' films, with fan favourites such as 'Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan' (1993), which introduced Broly, and 'Fusion Reborn' (1995).
After almost two decades, 'Battle of Gods' (2013) brought Goku back to cinemas with Toriyama involved in the story, followed by 'Resurrection of F' (2015), 'Dragon Ball Super: Broly' (2018), the series' biggest hit on release, and 'Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero' (2022). Toriyama died in March 2024.
