About the DC Universe saga
The DC Universe is Warner Bros.' attempt to bring Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and the rest of DC Comics' heroes into one story. The first era, the so-called Extended Universe, began with Zack Snyder's 'Man of Steel' (2013) and continued with 'Batman v Superman', 'Suicide Squad' and 'Wonder Woman' (2017), Patty Jenkins' film with Gal Gadot, the most acclaimed of all. 'Justice League' (2017) had a troubled production, and years later 'Zack Snyder's Justice League' was released, a four-hour cut born of a fan campaign.
'Aquaman' (2018) was the biggest hit, with more than $1.1 billion. Then came James Gunn's 'The Suicide Squad' (2021), 'Black Adam' and 'The Flash', and the era ended in 2023 with 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom'.
In 2022 James Gunn and Peter Safran took charge of DC Studios and started from scratch: the new DC Universe began with 'Superman' (2025), starring David Corenswet, and continued in 2026 with 'Supergirl' and 'Clayface'. 'Man of Tomorrow' follows in 2027. Films such as the Joker ones and The Batman sit outside this continuity.
