About the Fast & Furious saga

'Fast & Furious' began in 2001 as a modest film about street racing in Los Angeles, 'The Fast and the Furious', directed by Rob Cohen and starring Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, and has become one of the highest-grossing series ever, with more than $7 billion taken and one idea that sums it up: family.

The change came with Justin Lin, who directed five instalments starting with 'Tokyo Drift' (2006). With 'Fast Five' (2011), which added Dwayne Johnson, the races gave way to impossible heists and action on a huge scale. Paul Walker died in a car crash in November 2013, during the shoot of 'Furious 7', which said goodbye to him with "See You Again" and took more than $1.5 billion. Mind the order: in the story's chronology, 'Tokyo Drift' comes after the sixth film.

Then came 'The Fate of the Furious', the spin-off 'Hobbs & Shaw', 'F9', which went as far as sending a car into space, and 'Fast X' (2023), with Jason Momoa as the villain, the first part of the finale. The series will end with 'Fast Forever', due in March 2028.
