About the Riddick saga
Riddick is the science fiction antihero who made Vin Diesel a star. A dangerous convict, with eyes surgically altered to see in the dark, he turns out in 'Pitch Black' (2000) to be the only hope for the survivors of a ship that crashes on a planet where night brings creatures that devour everything that moves.
The modest 'Pitch Black' became a cult film, and its director, David Twohy, who made all three films in the series, expanded its world with the ambitious 'The Chronicles of Riddick' (2004), a big-budget space opera with Judi Dench in the cast that pitted the hero against the Necromongers.
After that stumble, Diesel and Twohy went back to basics with 'Riddick' (2013), a smaller, more violent film that recaptured the survival spirit of the first. The character also starred in video games and an animated short.
