Trailer 'Nightborn' (2026)

'Nightborn', known in its original Finnish title as 'Yön lapsi', is a drama directed by Hanna Bergholm, a Finnish filmmaker recognised for her previous work 'Hatching', in which she already explored motherhood through a deeply unsettling lens with elements of horror. With 'Nightborn', Bergholm returns to similar thematic territory, albeit from a distinctly different perspective.

The trailer opens with an apparently everyday tone, with lines such as "You're the best mother in the world", which soon contrast with an atmosphere of mounting unease. Throughout the trailer, images and dialogue unfold that point to a fraught relationship between a mother and her newborn, whose nature generates doubt and tension within the family.

Lines such as "There's something wrong with him" or "It sucked my blood" introduce an unsettling dimension, whilst references to cold iron and creatures that react to contact suggest the story ventures into folklore and the supernatural. The trailer carefully parcels out information, depicting the emotional deterioration of the characters without revealing the outcome.

The cast is led by Seidi Haarla, a Finnish actress who gained international recognition for her role in 'Compartment No. 6'. Alongside her appears Rupert Grint, best known for his portrayal of Ron Weasley in the 'Harry Potter' series. The cast is completed by Pamela Tola, Pirkko Saisio, and Rebecca Lacey.
