Plot

Directed by the tandem formed by Behtash Sanaeeha and Maryam Moqadam, 'Ballad of a White Cow (Le pardon)' had its premiere at the 71st edition of the Berlin International Film Festival, where it competed in the Official Selection; in addition to being screened in the Official Section of the 66th edition of the Valladolid International Film Festival, the Seminci, where it won the award for best new director.

Mina's (Maryam Moqadam) life is turned upside down when she learns that her husband Babak was innocent of the crime for which he was executed. The authorities apologize for the mistake and offer financial compensation. So Mina begins a silent battle against a cynical system for her own good and that of her daughter. Just as she runs out of her money, a stranger named Reza (Alireza Sani Far) knocks on her door and tells her that she has come to pay off a debt she owed to Babak. Mina is relieved, but she increasingly lets Reza into her life, unaware of the secret that binds them.

A production that seeks to show the most absurd side of a judicial system that oppresses its citizens and that shows the seams of a theocratic state, in addition to showing the reality of women who are left at the mercy of the fate of their husbands, even when they become in widows.

Directed by Behtash Sanaeeha and Maryam Moqadam, both are writing the script together with Mehrdad Kouroshniya. Starring Maryam Moqadam, Alireza Sani Far and Pouria Rahimi Sam. International co-production between France and Iran, a production of Caracteres Productions and Filmsazan Cooperation.
