Plot

At the beginning of the 1920s, Georges Laffont, traumatized by the horrors experienced during the First World War, left everything behind and decided to change his life and move to Upper Volta, in Africa, accompanied by the artist Diofo, who also survived to the contest. After four years, this nomadic and adventurous life leads him to a dead end. Loaded with tribal masks, Georges returns to his home, Paris, to find his brother Marcel, an ex-combatant who was left deaf by the war and who now lives with his mother. The reunion with his family and society after the Great War is very difficult, but Georges finds the complicity of Hélène, a beautiful teacher of sign language.

Trivia

The best landscape

To capture the best locations in Africa, the sequences were shot in remote places of Burkina and Senegal in which the local population collaborated in the production.

Clint Eastwood´s presence

Director Emmanuel Courcol counted for the feature film with Tom Stern, the main operator of Clint Eastwood. His intention was to capture the great contrasts of the different places where they shot through colors.
