Jade (played by newcomer Vicky Knight) is a young, working-class single mother living in Hackney, who is left reeling in the face of a brutal acid attack that permanently scars her face and body. Following the arrest of her ex-boyfriend and the father of her child who was responsible for the vicious assault, Jade believes that she cannot life a confident and happy life with her injuries, so she finds work in a call centre and on webcam sex sites to be able to afford to visit a plastic surgery clinic in Morocco. Her attempts to adapt to life after the attack are made all the more difficult as her two-year-old daughter, Rae, is staying with her mother, Lisa (Katherine Kelly, 'Happy Valley'), and is frightened by the appearance of her own mother. Jade struggles to pull together a support system from her old friends whom she connected with largely through social media and clubbing, two things she now feels world away from. Although her best friend, Shami (Rebecca Stone, 'PrankMe'), is supportive, she also seems to be competing with her for the attentions of Naz (Bluey Robinson, 'Cats'). Jade must learn to live with and love herself in the aftermath of life-altering event. 'Dirty God' is directed by Sacha Polak ('Zurich'), and was co-written by Polak and Susie Farrell ('6Degrees').
