La fuga

Guitarist, soundtrack composer, screenwriter and director Tuti Fernández makes his feature film debut with this comedy about old age. The story follows a group of elderly retired musicians, who after a life full of tours and international success, spend their last days in a residence. The peace of this place is interrupted when Mike Blow, an eccentric jazz musician who suffers from Alzheimer's, arrives. A phone call and a deception trigger a plan that leads Mike to convince his classmates to run away and embark on a trip to Africa, with the goal of meeting an orchestra of street children in Angola.

The plan is put into action, and the group of elderly people, led by Mike, manages to escape from the residence in the middle of the night and board a plane to Luanda. During their journey, they will face numerous setbacks that add humor and chaos to the journey. However, the real transformation occurs when they meet the Kaposoka orchestra in Luanda. There, the children of the orchestra become much more than just students; They become a source of inspiration and emotional connection for older musicians.

'La fuga' not only represents the physical departure from a place, but also the liberation from the chains of old age and death. Although death will always be the final destination, the journey symbolizes the passion and desire to live with freedom and meaning. Music, as a universal language, unites these characters in their search for meaning and companionship.
