Marisol, llámame Pepa

The documentary 'Marisol, llámame Pepa', directed by Blanca Torres and produced by Tu luz y mi calm and Sarao Films, was screened for the first time at the Malaga Film Festival and will be released in Spanish cinemas on May 10 by Me lo I think Cinema.

The child prodigy Marisol was immortalized almost daily, in an overexposure that ended up erasing the limits between the character and her own life. 'Marisol, llámame Pepa' illuminates the images of this myth again, to rediscover the life path of Marisol as a child and adolescent, and end up discovering the real Pepa Flores, the woman who hid behind her and who had to disappear to recover her voice, or rather, their right to silence. In the words of the director: "Being a myth is not chosen. It is the gaze of others that turns some people into a mirror in which to look at themselves. And that is for me Marisol Pepa Flores. A myth that has helped me understand where I come from, and what was the past of the women who preceded me."

It is built through several sequences of images and press reports, largely unpublished, which have been rescued to tell Marisol's story. Her image appears in film libraries around the world, and the amount of material held in private collections is overwhelming... Accompanied by relevant testimonies such as those of Elvira Lindo, Amaia, César Lucas, Enrique Cerezo, Fernando Méndez Leite, Cristina Almeida, Esperanza Aguirre, Cristina Hoyos or Vicky Flores, Pepa's sister, among others.

'Marisol, llámame Pepa' is co-produced by Televisión Española, with the participation of Canal Sur and with the support of the Community of Madrid and Madrid City Council, with financing from ICO, Triodos Bank and Crea SGR.
