Sophie and Xavier are a couple that has been trapped in monotony for years. The passion between them has faded over time, and they have been on a long streak where they neither look at nor touch each other, locked in a routine that suffocates them and threatens to definitively break their relationship. Hoping to bring some fresh air to their shared life, Sophie decides to organize a dinner at their home with their upstairs neighbors, Adèle and Alban, a young, charming, and very much in love couple. They are kind, friendly, and exude a complicity that Sophie and Xavier have lost long ago. However, not everything is perfect: Xavier does not hesitate to reproach them for their lack of discretion and their unrestrained sex life, whose annoying noises penetrate the walls and have become a constant problem. Everything seems to go well during the dinner, but at one moment of the evening, the situation takes an unexpected turn when Adèle and Alban make a proposal that is as surprising as it is indecent. Perhaps what Sophie and Xavier really need is to let themselves go with their neighbors and dare to break the routine.

Starring Bernard Campan, Isabelle Carré, Pablo Pauly, and Julia Faure, A Dinner... and Whatever Happens is a French comedy filled with humor, irony, and unexpected twists. Directed by Olivier Ducray and Wilfried Méance, who also co-wrote the script, it is an adaptation of the successful Spanish film Sentimental, directed by Cesc Gay.
