'Someone, somewhere' is a story told through parallels, focusing on two young people who live and feel isolated in the same district of Paris. Despite living in a big city, Rémy and Melánie are two adults in their thirties who encounter difficulties when they try to interact with the people around them. Rémy is a Parisian who lives alone in his apartment and is suffering from depression which has also led to insomnia. In spite of his battles with mental illness, he tries to connect with someone at a deeper level while he searches for work that does not require any of the skills that he believes himself not to possess. Meanwhile, Mélanie is a scientific researcher who also lives alone, close to Rémy but without knowing him, trying to find love through failed dates set up over apps and social media sites. After stumbling along the wobbly footpaths of their own individual lives, both characters will meet on a common road. Their surprise meeting gives them opportunity to redirect their lives and find the meaning they were looking with someone who is just as lost as they both are. This is the second film by director Cédric Klapisch that stars French actors Ana Girardot in the role of Mélanie and François Civil as Rémy, after having appeared both in 'Our Life in Burgundy' (2017).
