Plot
Follows the chronicle of Bruce Springsteen's iconic album 'Nebraska', recorded in 1982 in the bedroom of his home in New Jersey with a four-track recorder. On the brink of global fame, Springsteen was facing an intimate crossroads: the vertigo of success contrasted with still-open wounds from the past.
Isolated, introspective, and struggling with his own ghosts, he found in music a way to express a dark and deeply human world. The result was a stark, acoustic, and stripped-down album that broke away from the grand productions of his band and told, with a heart-wrenching lyrical rawness, the lives of working-class individuals facing a fate of failures, violence, and uprooting.
Each song embodies a search for redemption that always seems just out of reach. The film reconstructs this creative process at a crucial moment in his life, when the need to tell the truth weighed more than the promise of stardom that everyone wanted to force upon him, despite having much more to share than the surface of the myth. More than a making-of, it is a portrait of an artist in conflict, who found beauty in darkness and sculpted with his guitar one of the most sincere and enduring works of American rock. A true star that engaged with audiences all around the world.
