Sun Children

Ali is a 12-year-old boy who, together with his three friends, works running small errands in a garage and committing petty crimes to get quick money and help their families survive. In an unexpected and amazing turn of events, Ali is tasked with finding a treasure that remains hidden underground. The little boy will recruit his friends for the mission, but first they will have to join the Escuela del Sol, a charitable institution that is located near the place where the treasure is supposedly hidden and that is dedicated to trying to help homeless children.

He directs Majid Majidi and the film, in addition to competing in the Official Selection of the Venice Film Festival, won the Marcello Mastroiani award for the best emerging performer for its young protagonist Rouhollah Zamani. Majidi is one of the main exponents in the social cinema of Iran, obtaining for his country the first Oscar nomination in the category of best international film with 'Children of Paradise' in 1977. In this new film, 'Children of the Sun' , Majidi makes an honest portrait that is halfway between drama and adventure films, focusing on the severity of child labor. Along with Zamani are the most veteran Ali Nassirian, Javad Ezati or Tannaz Tabatabaei.
