The Drama

'The Drama' is a dark dramatic comedy written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli. It is a Square Peg production distributed by A24, which quickly becomes a hit with audiences and critics, grossing several times its $28 million budget, making it the most profitable title for the distributor to date.

The film stars Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, and features a plot twist (which we won't reveal) that defines the entire film. Charlie and Emma are two young people who meet in a coffee shop and quickly fall in love. Time passes and their loving, secure relationship soon transforms into a marriage proposal and wedding plans.

A week before the wedding, a strange incident with the DJ who was going to perform at the ceremony ends with the couple and a group of friends playing confessions: what is the worst thing you have ever done in your life? What begins as a simple joke ends with a disturbing confession from Emma about something that happened in her adolescence. The news leaves everyone in shock, especially Charlie, who wonders how well he knows the woman he loves, and whether they really should go through with the wedding.

As the days pass, the bond between the couple is put to the test following the revelation of this secret. Where are the limits of forgiveness? Should love prevail over morality? Does a person's past have to define their present and future? The film that seemed to be the typical romantic comedy ends up transforming into a psychological and social drama, throwing the viewer off balance.
