Synopsis
Whale hunting in the Faroe Islands is something that?s been going on for generations and the mammal makes up a key part of the Islanders diet. Until now that is. ?The Islands and the Whales? focuses the severe effects of oceanic pollution. The Whales are consistently effected by the ever-polluted oceans, but the inhabitants of the Faroe Islands are feeling the toxic effects too. The documentary draws our attention to the serious problem of pollution and highlights just how real the issue is.
Will the Islanders continue with their traditions or will they be forced to choose survival and abandon their Whale hunting ways for a healthier and safer alternative food choice? The documentary is directed by Michael Day.
