'Triple Frontier' was originally written by Mark Boal, the journalist and Oscar-winning screenwriter behind 'The Hurt Locker', 'Zero Dark Thirty' and 'Detroit'.

Will open in select theaters

'Triple Frontier' will open in select theaters in United States the 6th of March and become available to stream on Netflix starting March 13.

Eight Years

The film has been in development since 2010.

In and Out

At one time both Casey and Ben Affleck were going to star in Netflix's production of 'Triple Frontier' but dropped out. Ben signed back onto the project in 2018. Charlie Hunnam was also attached to this project then dropped out and rejoined this project later.

Also DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio was in early talks to star during beginning stages of the film's development but negotiations fell through as DiCaprio moved on to other projects.

Come and go

Charlie Hunnam was attached to this project then dropped out then he rejoined the project again.

Restart

In April 2017, Paramount decided to not move forward with the project when stars Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum dropped out after disagreements with the rewritten script. The movie was picked up by Netflix a month later, with Mahershala Ali the only remaining original cast member. Finally, none of them were cast.

A Different Cast

In 2010, Johnny Depp and Tom Hanks were in talks to star in the project but negotiations fell through over the course. Later, producers approached Will Smith to star but those early negotiations quickly fell through as Smith went on to do other projects. Also, Denzel Washington, Sean Penn and Mark Wahlberg were once in negotiations to star in the film.

6.5K Resolution

Shot on the ARRI Alexa 65, this is the first film to utilize the full frame 6.5K resolution of the camera.

A Very Different Director

Kathryn Bigelow was going to direct the movie but left to work on 'Detroit'.
