Jumanji: Open Worldd
About the Jumanji saga
'Jumanji' grew out of Chris Van Allsburg's picture book, published in 1981, about a board game that brings every square to life: wild animals, monsoons or a relentless hunter. Joe Johnston brought it to cinemas in 'Jumanji' (1995), with Robin Williams as Alan Parrish, a man trapped inside the game for 26 years.
More than twenty years later, Jake Kasdan's 'Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle' (2017) turned the game into a video game that sucks in four teenagers and puts them in the bodies of their avatars: Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan. It was a worldwide hit, far beyond expectations.
The same cast returned in 'Jumanji: The Next Level' (2019), joined by Danny DeVito and Danny Glover, and the series continues with 'Jumanji: Open World', released on 25 December 2026. From the same author comes 'Zathura' (2005), seen as a sister to the series.
