Annabella Avery Thorne was born on 8 October 1997 in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Her father, Rey Thorne, of Cuban and Italian descent, died in a motorcycle accident in 2007 when she was nine, leaving her mother to raise four children who all ended up acting. Diagnosed with dyslexia in second grade, Bella was pulled out of school over bullying and taught herself to read on anything she could grab, cereal boxes included. Her first modelling job had come at six weeks old, for Parents magazine.

Shaking it up at Disney

After more than sixty commercials and parts in 'Dirty Sexy Money' and 'My Own Worst Enemy' with Christian Slater, her break came in 2010 with 'Shake It Up', dancing through three Disney Channel seasons alongside Zendaya and singing on the soundtrack with her too.
