Biography

When 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' ended in September 2025, half the internet had already decided Jeremiah Fisher would end up in Paris. Leaked set photos put him there, wandering the city. None of that was an accident. Jenny Han had Gavin Casalegno shoot French scenes that were never meant to air, decoys planted so nobody could call the ending early. "I was worried that if we never saw him there, then it would feel like the ending was very inevitable," the creator explained. It's a rare actor who works that hard to appear in footage designed not to exist.

Born in Dallas on 2 September 1999, he grew up in Texas, the eldest of three children in a family with Italian roots in Piedmont. His younger sister Ashlyn also acts and models. He was posing for a JCPenney catalogue at four and standing in front of a camera by seven. He went to Lovejoy High School in Lucas, Texas, until the family decided to try their luck in Los Angeles.

Small parts in big films

His first role of any real weight came with 'Noah' (2014), where Darren Aronofsky cast him as the young Shem alongside Russell Crowe, Anthony Hopkins and Jennifer Connelly.

That same year he turned up in 'When the Game Stands Tall', having already passed briefly through 'Butter' (2011). Television handed him parts that were just as short but far more widely seen. In 2015 he appeared in 'The Vampire Diaries' as a teenage Damon Salvatore, and in 2021 he joined the recurring cast of 'Walker' as Trevor Strand. Nothing in that run hinted at what was coming.

The summer that changed everything

Prime Video launched 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' in 2022, adapted from Jenny Han's novels, and Casalegno became Jeremiah Fisher more or less overnight: the sunnier half of one of recent television's most argued over love triangles. Opposite him were Lola Tung as Belly and Christopher Briney as his brother Conrad.

What followed was a genuine generational event. Social media split into Team Jeremiah and Team Conrad across three summers, and Casalegno went from recognisable face to a following in the millions. On 17 September 2025, after three seasons, it signed off with a finale running close to eighty minutes in which Belly chose Conrad. Jeremiah got a different ending: walking away from the family business to cook for a living.

The flipside of that success was less pleasant. When the dislike of Jeremiah started landing on him personally, Casalegno reminded The New York Times that "this is a fictional story, and it's also not me", and admitted he keeps away from Instagram so he doesn't read the worst of it. Amazon eventually asked fans outright to stop the bullying. He describes Jeremiah as a sunshine and golden retriever sort, some way from his own personality.

Sharks, Thailand and unfinished business

Life after Cousins Beach began underwater. In 'The Devil's Mouth' (2026), the survival thriller directed by Jeff Wadlow, he plays Greg, one of a group of friends who explore a flooded cave system and run into a bull shark. Lana Condor, Kathryn Newton and Nico Hiraga round out the cast. The shoot took him to Thailand, where he and his wife settled temporarily through the summer of 2025, and the film reached Prime Video in July 2026.

Before that he appeared in 'Queen of the Ring' (2025), a biopic of the wrestler Mildred Burke. Ahead of him is the return everyone's waiting for: 'The Summer I Turned Pretty: The Movie', a direct continuation of the series finale that Jenny Han is directing, due in April 2027.

A wedding nobody saw coming

On 12 November 2024, with no prior announcement and no confirmed relationship to speak of, Casalegno posted his wedding photographs on Instagram. "Best kept secret," the caption read. The ceremony took place in the California mountains and blindsided even the followers who track his private life closely. His wife, Cheyanne King, met him in the spring of 2023 through mutual friends in Los Angeles, around the time she finished her nursing degree at Baylor University.

Before her he'd spent six years with the model and dancer Larsen Thompson, from 2016 to 2022. Raised in a churchgoing family, he talks about his faith without much fuss and has put his name to mental health campaigns aimed at the young audience the series brought him. He turned 27 this September, with a television phenomenon behind him and a film still to come. The kid who modelled for catalogues in Dallas has the interesting part ahead of him.
