Daliland

'Dalíland' is an American biographical drama directed by Marry Harron. It is a recreation of the real life of the peculiar Spanish painter and artist Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech, alias Salvador Dalí. The film features a screenplay by John C. Walsh and stars actor Ben Kingsley, who plays Dalí.

The film transports us to the year 1970 in settings of Spain and the United States through the eyes of James Linton, a young assistant of a New York gallery who has to attend to Dalí for a local exhibition and ends up trapped in his particular world of bohemian surrealism. 'Dalíland' focuses on Dalí's particular relationship with his wife Gala and how, after the exhibition, James goes to Spain with them where they end up dying, first Gala and then Dalí.

'Dalíland' also stars Christopher Briney as James Linton, while Barbara Sukowa plays Gala. Initially, actor Ezra Miller was to play Linton, although he had to turn down the role due to scheduling problems. Instead, Miller plays the young Dalí in some scenes of the film, along with Avital Lvova as the young Gala.

The cast of the film is completed by Rupert Graves, Alexander Beyer, Andre Pejic, Suki Waterhouse, and Mark McKenna. Most of the movie was filmed in Liverpool, in the United Kingdom, which stands in for the New York of the era.
