It has been almost two decades since that chaotic day when Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her daughter Anna (Lindsay Lohan) swapped bodies and experienced firsthand what it meant to be the other. Now, Anna is an adult, a mother to a brilliant and rebellious girl named Riley, and she is about to marry Dan, a widowed father whose teenage daughter, Harper, is not at all happy about the new family on the horizon.

When family tensions reach their peak during the wedding preparations, a mysterious fortune cookie—identical to the one that changed their lives years ago—unexpectedly reappears. Overnight, Anna and Harper wake up in each other's bodies, reliving the experience that once united Anna and Tess. Desperate to help, Tess steps back into the scene... only to find herself caught in a new swap that triggers an even more hilarious and emotional chain of events.
