Good Fortune

'Good Fortune' is a U.S. comedy starring, written, and directed by Aziz Ansari, marking his directorial debut in film. It premieres in the United States on October 17, 2025, after being featured at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film takes place after Ansari's directorial debut with 'Being Mortal' was canceled in 2022 due to the alleged inappropriate behavior of Bill Murray.

Gabriel is a low-level guardian angel who basically spends his time saving drivers who are distracted by their phones. One day, he discovers Arj, a poor man who is struggling in life. Homeless, he lives in his car while running errands for his eccentric and wealthy boss.

To try to convince Arj that money doesn't bring happiness, Gabriel swaps the lives of the two men. Contrary to what the angel expected, money ends up solving almost all of Arj's problems. In light of this situation, Gabriel's boss takes away his wings and forces him to return to Earth to live among humans, where he ends up sharing an apartment with Jeff, who has now become an unhappy person.

'Good Fortune' is a fairly ensemble film with Ansari playing the role of Arj, alongside his good friend Seth Rogen as Jeff. Keanu Reeves is Gabriel, the lead angel, while Sandra Oh plays his boss, Martha. Keke Palmer portrays Elena, Arj's coworker.

The filming of 'Good Fortune' was relatively eventful. First, the movie was delayed due to the actor and writer strikes of 2023. Then, during filming, Keanu Reeves fractured his knee after falling while getting out of the bathtub in his trailer, causing some of his scenes to be postponed and filmed later. Shot in Los Angeles, it has received mostly positive reviews.
