Synopsis

Johnny and Clyde are a pair of lovers and serial killers who've left a trail of bodies across the country. Back home in Rhode Island, they're planning the job that should set them up for life: emptying the secret vault of a casino run by Alana Hart, a crime boss every bit as ruthless as they are. To pull it off they bring in three equally dangerous old friends, Butcher, Baker and Candlestick.

The plan has a few loose ends. A former sheriff with a score to settle is on their trail, and a reporter has started digging into a rumour about the casino: that Alana keeps a demon called Bakwas on the payroll to guard her money.

'Johnny & Clyde' is a heist movie that swerves into horror, with an obvious nod to 'Bonnie and Clyde' in the title. Tom DeNucci directed it and wrote the script with Nick Principe, who also plays Butcher. Avan Jogia and Ajani Russell are the killer couple, Megan Fox plays Alana, and the cast also includes All-American Rejects frontman Tyson Ritter, Bai Ling, Vanessa Angel and Robert LaSardo. It was shot in Rhode Island in 2021 for Verdi Productions.

Screen Media released it in a handful of US cinemas and on demand on 5 May 2023, and critics tore it apart. Not one of the reviews counted by Rotten Tomatoes was positive, and its average across the 11 outlets collected on Movienco is 2.1 out of 10.

The Razzies followed in March 2024, when Fox won Worst Actress for this film (on the same night she took Worst Supporting Actress for 'The Expend4bles') and Bai Ling was nominated for Worst Supporting Actress. In the UK it can be rented or watched through the Channel 101 add-on on Prime Video.
