Synopsis

Documentary film directed by married couple Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi, winner of the U.S. Audience Documentary Award at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. 'Meru' tells the story of three elite climbers who, after trying and didn't get to reach the summit of Mount Meru in 2008, Conrad Anker, Jimmy Chin and Renan Ozturk return to the mountain in order to conquer its peak, a wall of 4,000 feet, known as 'Shark's Fin'. But this trip will have a peculiarity: the journey will be documented through a movie camera. A real journey full of despair, threats, obsessions and losses. 'Meru' was shortlisted to compete in the category of Best Documentary at the 88th Academy Awards but it wasn't finally chosen in the final phase.
