Plot

In "My Cousin Rachel" based on the novel by Daphne du Maurier, Sam Claflin is Philip Ashley, an orphan aristocrat adopted by his cousin Ambrose, both will live in freedom in the English countryside. On a trip to Italy, Ambrose falls in love with a distant cousin, Rachel (Rachel Weisz) and will marry. Feeling abandoned, Ashley believes reading his cousin letters that He is in danger and travel to Italy... to discover Ambrose is dead and his widow has fled. Ashley believes it is Rachel who has killed his cousin and he will try to find out the truth but soon enough he will find himself falling for Rachel's charms and he will begin to have feelings that interfere with his task of finding the truth. A tale of obsession, deception, jealousy and paranoia.

Trivia My Cousin Rachel

Sam Claflin and Holliday Grainger have previously appeared together in The Riot Club (2014) and the TV mini-series Any Human Heart (2010). In the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Sam Claflin's character was also named Philip. The country estate house used for filming was inherited by Bamber Gascoigne following the death of his aunt, Mary Innes-Ker, Duchess of Roxburghe, on July 2nd, 2014.
