Plot
The city dedicated to the secondary sector is gray and sad, but the protagonist of this film, Joe Lampton, has managed to find a job that seems to have a future. In order to have the nights occupied, he joins a theatrical group. The daughter of her boss, named Susan, plays witty roles both on stage and in her daily life. From the beginning, Susan is attracted to Joe, and in that relationship the protagonist sees an opportunity to quickly climb positions by being the boss's son-in-law. His whole plan is complicated when he realizes that he feels a strong desire to be with a woman older than he who also belongs to the theater group. She is French, and unfortunately she is married. Joe decides that he wants to get away with it, and that he has to see both women in parallel.
