The Fabelmans

'The Fabelmans' is the story of Sammy, a boy who discovers his passion, cinema, from a very young age. Inspired by the life of Spielberg himself, 'The Fabelmans' is a portrait of the journey that the director has had to go through in his career.

The story that explores the limits of effort, perseverance and circumstances that any young filmmaker must go through to achieve success. Sammy's life will be marked by the refusal of his father (Burt Fabelman), a scientist who sees the young man's passion as a mere hobby with no future, not as a job to earn a living. On the other hand, the lonely filmmaker's biggest supporters are his mother (Mitzi) and his two sisters (Natalie and Reggie) who lend themselves to star in Sammy's amateur films and shorts.

Little by little the years go by and Sammy's true vocation becomes more and more irrepressible. The camera and him form a single person, until a secret his mother keeps makes his life, and his relationship with her, take a 180º turn.

In this film, Spielberg surrounds himself with the best of Hollywood. The cast consists of: Gabriel LaBelle (Sammy), Michelle Williams (Mitz), Paul Dano (Burt), Keeley Karsten (Natalie), Julia Butters (Reggie), Steve Rogen ("Sammy's Uncle"), Robin Bartlett (Grandma Sammy's), Jeannie Berlin (the other grandmother) and Judd Hirsch (the protagonist's great-uncle).

On the screenplay, he once again joins forces with Oscar nominee and Pulitzer Prize winner Tony Kushner. These two film giants have already worked together on titles such as 'Lincoln' or 'Munich'. In addition, John Williams, the five-time Oscar winner for Spielberg's own films such as 'Spielberg's List' or 'Jaws', will be in charge of putting the soundtrack to 'The Fabelmans'.
