Synopsis

In the early 80's in Manhattan, the disco music is the type with the most rhythm in an array fashion venues where beautiful people go to show off. Alice Kinnon and Charlotte Pingress are two friends who for a long time have lived two very similar lives: both have just graduated from the University of Hampshire and got their first job at a publishing firm in the American city. Although they are both quite different as Alice is innocent and timid, and Charlotte is a crazy party animal, they do share a hobby: music, with which they dance to in the coolest nightclubs of New York.

'The Last Days of Disco' is a feature film directed by the filmmaker Whit Stillman, starring by Chloe Sevigny and Kate Beckinsale.

Trivia

  • The disco

The disco seen in the movie was actually an old picture theater being renovated in Jersey City, New Jersey.

  • Looking for a huge brand

Castle Rock, the studio that produced the film, wanted a big name to star in the "Alice" role. They put in a call to Winona Ryder's agent with a firm offer. In the meantime, Chloe Sevigny read for the part and was perfect for the role, according to Whit Stillman. They were able to get out of the offer to Ryder because her agent took four days to return the call.
