The Misfits

Renny Harlin, the director of 'Die Hard 2' and 'Cliffhanger', had been looking for something to do with Pierce Brosnan for a while, and he found it in 'The Misfits', a heist movie shot in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Los Angeles from a script by Robert Henny and Kurt Wimmer.

Brosnan is Richard Pace, a career thief with a habit of breaking out of whatever prison he's put in. Three of them belong to Werner Schultz (Tim Roth), a private prison tycoon who has no love for him. Not long after his latest escape, Pace falls in with a crew who call themselves the Misfits: master of disguise Ringo (Nick Cannon), martial artist Violet (Jamie Chung), explosives man Wick and the Prince, a very rich man who foots the bill.

Their plan is to break into a prison Schultz runs in the Middle East, where a vault holds the gold he's laundering for a terrorist group, and steal it before it reaches them. Pace wants nothing to do with it until his daughter Hope gets involved.

Hermione Corfield plays Hope, and the cast also includes Mike Angelo and Rami Jaber, a rally driver making his acting debut who is also an executive producer. It opened in South Korea on 3 June 2021 and in the US a week later. Made for around $15 million, it took just $1.6 million worldwide, critics savaged it (it averages 31.5 out of 100 on the site) and it picked up three Razzie nominations, among them Worst Director for Harlin and Worst Supporting Actor for Cannon.
