Plot
Julie (Honor Swinton-Byrne) is a young film student at the beginning of the eighties. She fall in love with a complicated and untrusted man called Anthony (Tom Burke). He will complicate her life as much as she can't even make differences between reality and fiction.
The film is directed by Joanna Hogg and it counts for the first time with honor Swinton-Byrne, Tilda Swinton's daughter that in fact, plays Julie's mum in the film. Another member of the cast are Ariane Labed, Richard Ayoade, Jack McMullen, Frankie Wilson, Jake Phillips Head or Jaygann Ayeh.

It's the second time that Tilda Swinton plays mum of Honor Swinton-Byrne. The first time was in 2009 with 'I Am Love'.
Pictorial inspiration
The title of the film is inspired by an 18th century rococo painting of Jean-Honoré Fragonard called 'The Souvenir'.
Reality and fiction
The flat where Julie lives in London is a recreation of the flat where the director Joanna really lived at her age. The city views seen throught the windows are 35mm projections of photographs that Hogg took in her twenties.
