About the Doraemon saga
Doraemon, the robot cat who travels from the 22nd century to help Nobita, a clumsy and lazy schoolboy, was born in 1969 in the manga of Fujiko F. Fujio and is one of Japan's best-loved characters. His magic pocket holds impossible gadgets, such as the Anywhere Door and the Bamboo-copter, and his animated series has been shown around the world.
Since 1980 Japan has released a new Doraemon film every year, a longer and more emotional adventure than the TV episodes. They include 'Doraemon: Nobita's South Sea Adventure', 'Doraemon: Nobita and the Wind Wizard' and 'Doraemon: Nobita's Dinosaur' (2006), a remake of the very first film.
'Stand By Me Doraemon' (2014) took the character into 3D computer animation to tell how Nobita's life changes, followed by 'Stand By Me Doraemon 2'. The films keep coming: the latest, 'Doraemon: Nobita's Art World Tales', came out in 2025.
